PLEASE NOTE:  The 950 Color Additon is only required by Quadra 950, System 7.0.1 users for the reasons outlined below.  This fix is incorporated in System 7.1 and therefore is not needed by System 7.1 users.

This file duplicates the printed information you may have received with the "Macintosh Quadra Extra" disk.  If you received printed instructions, follow them; you do not need this file.

WHAT IS THE 950 COLOR ADDITION EXTENSION?

950 Color Addition is a system software extension that fixes a minor problem on Macintosh Quadra 950 computers.  This extension does nothing on other Macintosh computers.

The problem addressed only manifests itself under certain conditions.  When a color monitor is connected to the on-board video circuitry and the Monitors control panel is set to millions of colors, certain color manipulation commands may not work in some graphics application programs. The problem is not destructive.  Your machine will not crash and data will not be corrupted. Installing the 950 Color Addition corrects the problem.

HOW TO INSTALL THE 950 COLOR ADDITION EXTENSION

1. Insert the "Macintosh Quadra Extra" floppy disk in the floppy disk drive.

2. Find the 950 Color Addition icon and drag it to the System Folder on your startup disk.

3. A message asks you if you want the 950 Color Addition to be stored in the Extensions folder.  Click OK.

Note: A copy of the 950 Color Addition may already be installed in your Extensions folder. If so, you do not need to reinstall it.  When you are asked whether you want to replace the 950 Color Addition, click Cancel.

4. Restart your Macintosh Quadra 950.

If for some reason you must reinstall system software, you should also follow this procedure to reinstall the 950 Color Addition extension after system software has been installed.
